Appendix H: Servicing Solar Inverter
To service the Solar Inverter: Open the Solar Inverter AC circuit breaker and secure it against reconnection. This will initiate Rapid Shutdown and bring the DC voltage to a safe level.
A step by step guide for turning on, shutting down or restarting your inverter safely. Step 1: Locate your meterbox or switchboard and locate the "main switch inverter supply" and turn that to the ON position. Step2: Go to your inverter and locate the DC isolator.
To prevent water or dust entering the interior of the inverter, clean and dry the lid prior to removal. On the Sunny Island, remove all screws of the lower enclosure lid using an Allen key (AF 5) and remove the enclosure lid. Retain the screws and conical spring washers for later use. Carefully remove the enclosure lid.
Step 1: Locate your meterbox or switchboard and locate the "main switch inverter supply" and turn that to the OFF position. Step 2: Go to your inverter and locate the DC isolator. (Some times there will be a DC isolator to the LEFT of the inverter, most of the time it will be an inbuilt switch on the bottom of the inverter or sometimes both.)
Make sure all DC isolators are turned OFF. To RESTART the inverter, carry out the OFF and ON procedures explained above. Once you have shut down the inverter, check the screen and wait for lights to turn off and for the screen to turn blank. Then you can turn the inverter back ON.
