At the Great Wall scenic area, the Beijing Yanqing District Government and China Unicom Beijing have jointly deployed 10-gigabit 5G-Advanced base stations at scale. This offers uninterrupted network coverage both on the ground and in low-altitude (below 300 meters) airspace.
Huawei is estimated to have secured 45,426 5G base stations worth an estimated 4.1 billion yuan (US$574 million). Huawei wasn't the only Chinese vendor to win a sizeable chunk of the tender, with ZTE the second-largest winner with around 26 percent of the contract, equivalent to 23,227 5G base stations.
According to Huawei, this large-scale commercial three component carrier (3CC) network covers over 10 million people in Beijing. The deployment aims to ensure comprehensive 5G coverage and extends 85% 5G-Advanced coverage within Beijing's 4th Ring Road and the Municipal Administrative Center.
