In Egypt, the wind market increases quickly to make it one of the top countries in the Middle East. This study discusses the viability of wind resources and the economic assessment for four locations in Egypt: Ras El-Hekma, Farafra, Nuweiba, and Aswan through two stages.
The potential of wind energy is evaluated for four selected locations in Egypt with different wind classes, which are Ras El-Hekma, Farafra, Nuweiba, and Aswan. Such sites are not investigated in previous studies and there are no definite social, environmental, and political conflicts to study these sites.
Actually, and according to the 2019 Annual Report of New and Renewable Energy Authority in Egypt, the installed wind energy projects in Egypt have ensured more economical feasibility as the COE in 2019 was averaged by only 0.03 $/kWh. Fig. 6. Average global COE ($/kWh) between 2010 and 2019 .
